Are you struggling to pay off debt from your energy supplier or water company? If so, you might be able to get funding from your energy or water supplier to help pay it off. They may also be able to assist in replacing certain household items. Read on to find out more.
Energy Company Funding:
The following funds are open to anyone, regardless of your energy supplier:
- The British Gas Energy Trust – assisting families and individuals who are struggling with gas and electricity debts by awarding grants to clear those debts.
- The Let’s Talk Energy Fund helps residents to pay their bills and/or replace inefficient white goods and replace or repair gas and oil boilers.
The following companies offer grants specifically for their customers:
- The npower Energy Fund supports npower customers through grants to pay their gas and electricity bills. They also provide replacement white goods which are broken, old or in a poor condition.
- The EDF Energy Customer Support Fund awards vulnerable customers who help clear domestic gas and/or electricity debts. It can also assist in the purchase of essential energy efficient white goods.
- The Scottish Power Hardship Fund assists customers to clear or reduce energy arrears by crediting a customer’s Scottish Power energy account.
- The Ovo Energy Fund helps those who have fallen behind on their energy payments to Ovo and want to become more financially stable.
- The E.ON Energy Fund is open to help existing or previous customer receive extra support. The funding can help customers pay existing or final E.ON bill arrears, replace or repair household equipment and provide e-learning vouchers to support managing finances.
- The Frimley Fuel Allotments is specifically for Surrey residents living in the GU15 or GU16 postcode. The grant can assist eligible residents with fuel bills and debts.

Water Company Funding:
Below are a list of the Surrey water and sewage providers and the assistance they can offer to eligible customers. If you would like to check who provides your clean and waste water, please visit Water UK.
- Affinity Water Lift provides capped water bills for eligible customers.
- South East Water provides capped water bills for eligible customers.
- South East Water Helping Hand offers financial assistance to clear water and sewerage debt.
- Thames Water, WaterSure Plus provides reduced bills for eligible customers.
- Thames Water Customer Assistance Fund helps customers manage payments for their water bills.
- Thames Water Trust Fund assists customers who cannot afford to pay for essential household items.
- SES Water WaterSure Tariff provides capped bills for eligible customers.
- SES Water, Water Support offers discounts of water and wastewater bills.
