Reduce your gas bills and save up to £350* a year

Condensing boilers are more efficient than traditional boilers (some reach efficiencies of 95% compared with approximately 75% of traditional boilers) as they are able to capture the waste heat from the flue gases. This extra energy is used to pre-heat the water enabling the boiler to require less gas to achieve the desired water temperature. This therefore keeps fuel bills lower and emissions down.

How efficient is your boiler?

You can find the efficiency of your current boiler by following the link and entering the make and model:

Boiler Efficiency Database

How much could you save each year?*

This will depend on how old and inefficient your existing boiler is and the fuel your boiler uses. Below are some examples of potential savings for a home heated by gas central heating.

You can then get a clear indication of the savings that you could make by refering to the following table, based on data given by the Energy Savings Trust:

Old boiler ratingSemi-detached houseDetached houseDetached bungalowMid terrace houseMid floor flat

G (<70%)

F (70–74%)

E (74–78%)

D (78–82%)

These are estimated figures based on installing a new A-rated condensing boiler with a programmer, room thermostat and thermostatic radiator controls (TRVs) in a gas-heated home from an older boiler with a programmer and room thermostat. Savings will vary depending on the size and thermal performance of your home. Figures are based on fuel prices as of April 2017.

The costs for replacing a boiler will vary, but a straightforward gas boiler replacement plus thermostatic radiator valves will typically cost about £2,300 excluding radiators.
