Green Deal Assessments
What is a Green Deal Assessment?
A Green Deal Assessment can help you understand how to make your home more energy efficient, cheaper to heat and light, and more comfortable. By booking a Green Deal Assessment, you have made the first steps towards making energy-saving home improvements, such as wall or loft insulation, to make your home more comfortable. A Green Deal Assessment may cost from £99 + VAT which may be refundable by the Provider.
Green Deal Assessment refund offer – up to £100 if you had your assessment completed within the last 24 months. For more details about this offer please see our Green Deal Home Improvement Fund page.
Green Deal Home Improvement Fund . Please note as of 25 July, due to overwhelming popular demand, the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund is closed for applications with immediate effect.
As part of the assessment the Assessor may ask:
-
How many people live in your home
-
The types of appliances and heating used
-
How often the heating system is used
-
About existing improvements such as insulation
-
Upon booking your assessment you will be asked if there are any accessibility issues, like access to your loft, and to make your recent energy bills available for the Assessor’s visit
-
Whether you own or privately rent the property
-
Whether your home is in a conservation area, built before 1900, or constructed in a non-traditional way
A qualified Green Deal Assessor will visit your home to conduct a technical survey of your property and look at how you use energy in the home. The Assessor will then talk to you about potential improvements that could be installed.
After the assessment is complete, which will take between 1-2 hours, a Green Deal Advice Report will be generated. The Assessor will then explain the recommendations of the report and highlight the improvements that are expected to pay for themselves through the savings made on your energy bill. The actual savings will depend on how much energy you use and the future cost of energy.
All of this information will be provided to you in a Green Deal Advice Report.
