Surrey Healthy Homes

The Surrey Healthy Homes partnership, managed by Action Surrey installed more than 200 Keep Warm Keep Well kits into homes for vulnerable residents, which included draught excluders, letter boxes, carbon monoxide detectors and radiator reflector panels. Work to install at least another 150 Keep Warm Keep Well kits will continue over the next couple of months to ensure many more residents are helped in advance of next autumn.

In addition, six Local Authorities across Surrey have also funded 28 boiler services / repairs and over 30 boiler replacements to their most vulnerable residents. Many of these residents had very old, inefficient boilers which had been condemned and were unable to fund a replacement, leaving them without heating or hot water; including Mr Harris from Farnham, who had not had a functioning boiler or heating for 7 years.

Loft Clearances
Action Surrey can assist local residents to clear their loft, in readiness for installing loft insulation. There is a subsidy of £120 including disposal for vulnerable residents (over 70 or in receipt of benefits). If the work goes over £120, the homeowner has to pay the additional cost. The subsidy only covers removing items from the loft and disposal (not placing the items back up afterwards or installing a storage platform – both can be arranged but are charged for). The insulation company will organise clearance upon inspection. For all other homeowners (not over 70 or in receipt of benefits) the service is charged at £40 per hour (2 people) and will be quoted on inspection.
