In most cases, all the information that you need to compare and switch tariff can be found on your energy bills:
- Your postcode
- The name of current supplier
- The name of your energy tariff
- How much energy you use annually
Once you've chosen a supplier to switch to, you might also need the following information for your new supplier:
- An up-to-date meter reading
- Your bank details if you will be paying by direct debit
Typically, the whole process should take up to 21 days, and won't usually involve anybody needing to install anything physically in your property.
Have a look at Ofgem's energy shopping guide for a more in-depth guide on switching energy suppliers.
There is now a big range of 100% renewable energy tariffs available from clean energy suppliers.
Action Surrey, working in partnership with the Big Clean Switch, can help you cut your environmental impact and even save money in the process.
Big Clean Switch only work with suppliers who source 100% of their electricity from renewables – mainly sun, wind and water. That’s because for them, more customers means finding more supply, helping to drive investment in new sources of clean energy.
To find out how much you could save simply visit our Big Clean Switch page and enter your postcode to get started. You’ll be asked to name your existing supplier and tariff, and say how much you spend on energy per year. (This information is easy to find on your energy bills).
The site will then tell you which clean energy suppliers are the cheapest, and how much they will cost compared to your existing supplier. If you’re happy to switch just select the tariff you want, fill in the short form on the next page and you’ll be on your way!
