Action Woking is pleased to be working in partnership with Sustainable Now, run by ICLEI Europe.
Woking Borough Council is a member of ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability which is a European network of local authorities looking to promote climate change and sustainability awareness and action. In 2008 ICLEI was successful in obtaining European grant funding for a project called Sustainable Now. Sustainable Now looks to strengthen the role of local governments to lead by example and encourage the development of sustainable energy communities. The focus is to build capacity to enhance take-up of sustainable energy projects by local authorities through learning and dissemination. There are 15 project partners (local authorities and associated partner organisations) from five countries (Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and the UK). The partners will share good practice through case studies, toolkits and study visits. Further information on the project can be found at http://www.sustainable-now.eu/
